Hotel Casa grande Sarajevo

The CASA GRANDE Hotel is located in Ilidza, "one of the prettiest places on the Earth ", as E.B.Lanin wrote in “The Contemporary Review” in 1894 in London.

The name Ilidza is of Turkish origin and means spa. However, even the ancient Romans bathed in the healing springs of sulfur water that reached temperature of 58 degrees Centigrade on the surface.

The hotel is located in the beginning of a 3.5 km avenue that leads to the Vrelo Bosne (the Spring of river Bosna), through an avenue 3000 trees of plane and chestnut.

The Hotel is completely adequate for its purpose. The area of 1570 square meters provides enough space for all functions of the high-class hotel, while at the same time preserving the intimate atmosphere that makes the guests file like at home.

Sarajevo

Sarajevo is a unique place. Ever since it was founded in mid 15th century, this proud city was always the meeting point of worlds and nations, of the living dialogue of cultures and civilizations and a bridge between the East and the West.

Throughout the history, Sarajevo was always glowing with tolerance and multicultural spirit. In the times when Europe was burning at the stakes of religious wars, people of Islamic, catholic, orthodox and Jewish religion lived here in safety and harmony.

This historical quality can easily be seen in the city view. Only within one hundred meters in the center of Sarajevo, we see a scenery that, besides Sarajevo, can only be seen in Jerusalem: leaning on one another for centuries are mosques, catholic and orthodox churches, Jewish temples.

The spirit of open mind and variety of cultures is a dominant landmark of social life in Sarajevo.

Management and personnel of the CASA GRANDE hotel are trying to give their contribution to this mission of civilization that this city was entrusted with.

Welcome!

Vrelo Bosne

Vrelo Bosne, as an touristic attraction, is known for it’s natural richness which include first of all resources of the River Bosna wich are flowing down the slops of the most beautiful olympic mountains Bjelašnica and Igman for what it became the name today. Visit also a beautiful restaurant which will offer you an unusual ambience, and traditional specialities. You can walk trough the avenue or drive with a fijaker (that is a couch from the Austria – Hungary period), that are placed on the start and on the end of the avenue.

Bjelašnica

Skiing on the nearby mountains Igman (1248 m) and Bjelasnica (2067) is provided by the CASA GRANDE for guests, with a free transportation and luxurious lunch-packages.

Mild and wide slopes of mountain Igman are ideal for beginners and children.

On Bjelasnica is where one can find the downhill track closest to the equator on the northern hemisphere, where 1984 Olympic Games downhill contest took place.

Southern slopes of Bjelasnica have Mediterranean and the northern slopes have continental climate. Because of this peculiar microclimate, this whole area is actually a big air spa, with high concentration of ozone and where everything smells like primordial nature.

These horizons also offer extraordinary events in other seasons: excursions to intact mountain hearts, picking mushrooms, healing and eatable plants, ranging from one afternoon to three days. All this with the assistance of expert guides, lifeguards and medical escort.

During these excursions, the CASA GRANDE is providing its guests with a complete gastronomic service.
